Qatar beats India

Bangkok: Aman Dahiya’s bright start went in vain as Qatar prevailed 2-1 in the play-off match for the seventh place in the Asia Oceania World Junior under-14 tennis tournament in on Saturday.

Dahiya blanked Ibrahim Eid Al Suliti in 48 minutes in the first singles, but Udit Gogoi lost a three-setter in two hours to Qatar’s best player Rashed Nawaf Naif.

India gave a walkover in the doubles as Udit had suffered bouts of cramps during his singles match.

China triumphs

China defeated Japan 2-0 to clinch the title, while host Thailand bagged the third place beating Australia 2-1.
