Prarthana moves into semifinals

Second-seeded Prarthana Thombare reached the semifinals when Francesca Stephenson of Britain retired with the Indian leading 5-4 in the first set in the $10,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

In doubles, Prarthana and Yana Sizikova of Russia gave a walkover to the third-seeded pair of Giulia Bruzzone of Italy and Alina Mikheeva of Russia.

In the doubles final of the $10,000 ITF women’s tournament in Tlemcen, Algeria, second-seeded Shivika Burman and Shweta Rana were beaten 6-2, 7-5 by the top-seeded Amandine Cazeaux of France and Alina Wessel of Germany.
