Ojasvinee and Karman in semifinals

Unseeded Ojasvinee Singh and Karman Kaur Thandi sailed into the girls’ singles semifinals of the ONGC ITF tennis at the DKS Complex here on Thursday.

The day saw majority of Indians including the girls’ top seed Y. Pranjala and the boys’ third seed Garvit Batra crashing out.

Ojasvinee beat fifth-seeded Anna Ureke of Russia, while Karman defeated seventh-seeded compatriot Vasanti Shinde in straight sets.

The results:

Boys’ singles (quarterfinals): Mandresy Rakotomalala (Fra) bt Paramveer Singh Bajwa (Ind) 6-1, 6-2, Clement Larriere (Fra) bt Tung-lin Wu (Tpe) 6-4, 6-2, Geoffrey Blancaneaux (Fra) bt Garvit Batra (Ind) 6-3, 6-3, Sameer Kumar (USA) bt Alex Solanki (Ind) 6-1, 6-1.

Doubles (semifinals): Wei De Lin & Cing Yang Meng (Tpe) bt Mandresy Rakotomalala & Clement Larriere (Fra) 6-3, 5-7, 10-6, Sameer Kumar (USA) & Isa Mammetgulyyev (Tkm) bt Paramveer Singh Bajwa and Param Pun (Ind) 6-0, 6-4.

Girls’ singles (quarterfinals): Raveena Kingsley (USA) bt Pranjala Yadlapalli (Ind) 7-6(7), 6-4, Zhanlan Wei (Chn) bt Tamachan Momkoonthod (Tha) 7-6(2), 6-2, Karman Kaur Thandi (Ind) bt Vasanti Shinde (Ind) 6-4, 6-3, Ojasvinee Singh (Ind) bt Anna Ureke (Rus) 6-2, 7-5.

Doubles (semifinals): Vasanti Shinde & Ojasvinee Singh (Ind) bt Lalita Devarakonda & Jennifer Luikham (Ind) 6-3, 6-3, Rifanty Kahfiani (Ina) & Fang Hsien Wu (Tpe) bt Nandini Das & Shweta Sangwan (Ind) 6-2, 6-4.
