Defending champion Rafael Nadal cruised into the Wimbledon semifinals with a 6-3, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 win over Mardy Fish.

Defending champion Rafael Nadal advanced to the semifinals at Wimbledon by beating Mardy Fish 6-3, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 on Wednesday.

Nadal is 31-2 at Wimbledon since 2006. He lost in the final in 2006 and ‘07, but then won the following year. He missed the 2009 edition because of injury and won again in 2010.

Nadal hurt his left foot in his fourth round win over Juan Martin del Potro, but he practiced on Tuesday and did not appear to be hampered against Fish.

“Today it was better. The treatment worked and I’m fine. I’m here,” Nadal said. “The previous match was tough for me because for a moment I didn’t know if I had a serious injury but since (it’s) nothing important (it’s) probably going to work.”

The top-seeded Nadal will face Andy Murray in the semifinals on Friday.
