It was a chastening experience for newly-crowned National champion Mohit Mayur as he was outplayed 6-3, 6-2 by seventh-seeded Karunuday Singh in the first round of the $10,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament here on Monday.
Fourth-seeded Vijayant Malik retired at 4-4 in the second set after having lost the first, against Siddharth Rawat, owing to an upset stomach following food poisoning overnight.
