Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan lived up to his top-seeding when he outplayed local lad Kryce-Didier Momo-Kassa of Gabon 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals of the $15,000 ITF men’s tennis tournament in Libreville.
In doubles semifinals, Jeevan and Sam Barry of Ireland beat Arthur Surreaux and Hassan Ndayishimiye of Burundi 6-2, 6-3.
In the final, the Indo-Irish pair will play the second-seeded Mark Fynn of Zimbabwe and Ruan Roelofse of South Africa.
In the $15,000 ITF men’s tournament in Winnipeg, Canada, the seventh-seeded Saketh Myneni fought for three hours before being beaten 6-7(3), 7-6(2), 6-4 by Blake Mott of Australia in the pre-quarterfinals.
Saketh did save a setpoint in the 10th game of the second but eventually lost the set in the tie-break. In the decider, he was decisively broken in the fifth game. In doubles quarterfinals, Saketh and Dimitar Kutrovsky of Bulgaria got a walkover from Tony Larson and Wyatt Mcoy of the US.
In the $15,000 tournament in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei, the third-seeded Sriram Balaji and V.M. Ranjeet were beaten 6-3, 6-2 by the top-seeded Ti Chen and Liang-Chi Huang of Chinese Taipei, in the doubles semifinals.
