Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan was seeded No.1 ahead of Sanam Singh in the $10,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament to be played at the CLTA Complex here from Monday.
Having played three Challengers on the trot, Jeevan should be ready for some good results in the Futures circuit that is scheduled to span five weeks at home from North to South.
Jeevan will open his campaign against former National junior champion Abhijeet Tiwari.
Quite interestingly, a victory would see him face the winner of the match between the two reigning national champions Mohit Mayur and Vishnu Vardhan. Jeevan will continue to play doubles with Vishnu and the duo have been seeded No.2 behind Sriram Balaji and V. M. Ranjeet.
R. Ramkumar who caught everyone’s attention by beating Somdev Devvarman in the Chennai Open ATP tour event as a qualifier, but has struggled in the Challenger circuit, will try to maintain his success in the Futures circuit.
The seedings: 1. Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, 2. Sanam Singh, 3. Sriram Balaji, 4. Antal Van Der Duim (Ned), 5. R. Ramkumar, 6. Mathias Bourgue (Fra), 7. Vijayant Malik, 8. V.M. Ranjeet.
