On a day which saw the other Indians in the singles draw, including the National No.1 Ankita Raina, fall by the wayside, Dhruthi Venugopal beat fellow qualifier Katharina Lehnert of the Philippines 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-0 in the first round of the Delhi Open $25,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Tuesday.

In the pre-quarterfinals, Dhruthi faces seventh seed Tadeja Majeric of Slovenia who did not break a sweat on a warm and windy day in beating her doubles partner Prarthana Thombare.
