ITF women’s tennis: Pei-Chi too good for Indian hopefuls

Pei-Chi Lee of Chinese Taipei proved a stumbling block for both Prarthana Thombare and Natasha Palha in the $25,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament at Phuket, Thailand. Lee beat Prarthana 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the main draw, after having beaten Natasha 6-1, 6-4 in the qualifying round.

The results: Singles: First round: Pei-Chi Lee (Tpe) bt Prarthana Thombare 6-3, 6-4. Doubles (pre-quarterfinals): Na-Lae Han & Mi Yoo (Kor) bt Su Jeong Jang (Kor) & Prarthana 6-1, 7-5. Qualifying: Second & final round: Pei-Chi bt Natasha Palha 6-1, 6-4. First round: Natasha bt Chutharat Rungtein (Tha) 6-1, 6-1.
