Two-time National grass court champion Vishnu Vardhan defeated top-seeded Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan 6-3, 6-2 in the pre-quarterfinals of the DLF $10,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament on Wednesday.

It was the second victory in six meetings for Vishnu over his doubles partner ranked 316th in the world.

In the quarterfinals, Vishnu will clash with Ronit Singh Bisht who cruised past seventh-seeded local lad Vijayant Malik for the loss of just five games.

Three other Indians — Sanam Singh, R. Ramkumar and Sriram Balaji — set up quarterfinal meetings against foreign opponents. Sanam had to fight his way past Vijay Sundar Prashanth after losing the first set while second-seed Sanam will face the sixth seed, Mathias Bourgue of France.
