The tournament carries a prize money of $10,000 and valuable ATP points. The field features some of the top young professional players including some members of the Indian Davis Cup team.

India’s N. Sriram Balaji, with 326 points, enjoys the top rank in the tournament followed by his Davis Cup teammate Vishnu Vardhan. Ranjeeth Virali Murugesan, another of the elite group, will be sixth in ranking.

The highest placed foreign entry is Sarvar Ikramov of Uzbekistan. Matias Franco Descotte of Argentina is the second foreigner in the top ten.

One of the top coaches, Tony Roche, is likely to be in Kolkata in the first week of December, said Jaidip Mukerjea on Tuesday. He said efforts were being made to get all the members of the Indian Davis Cup team, including Somdev Devvarman, to work with the Aussie.
