Novak Djokovic made it a lucky seventh title in China with a 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) defeat of Juan Del Potro to win a second straight trophy at the Shanghai Masters on Sunday.

The Serb has won his last 20 matches in China; he earned a fourth Beijing trophy over the past five years a week ago as he beat Rafael Nadal in the capital.

Djokovic, who lost his world number one title last week to Nadal, now owns five titles this season and 39 in his career. Victory took just over two and a half hours.

The loss leaves Del Potro without a Masters 1000 trophy.

Djokovic claimed victory on the first of three match points in the third-set tiebreaker after Del Potro save two Djokovic match-winners in the tenth game of the set.

Djokovic ended with 47 winners but converted on only two of his dozen chances. He won his 10 match of 13 against Del Potro, who knocked out Nadal in the semi-finals.
