Devvarman’s woes continue

Somdev Devvarman’s on-court struggles on his comeback continued as he lost his sixth consecutive first round match, suffering a 7-6(6), 6-3 loss to Ernest Gulbis at Erste Bank Open on Wednesday.

The unseeded Indian, whose ranking has plummeted to 579, lost to his Latvian opponent in one hour and 43 minutes.

Devvarman, who has sit out about seven months of the season due to a shoulder surgery, has now lost all his singles matches since making a comeback at London Olympics.

Sania & Llagostera-Vives lose

Third seeds Sania Mirza and Nuria Llagostera-Vives crashed out of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow on Thursday, losing 7-5, 6-4 to Rachel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears in the quarterfinals.
