Ankita Raina was named ‘best female player’ as Dazzling Deuces defeated Baseline Bombers 24-14 in the third Amanora Premier Tennis League final here on Wednesday.

The five-match rubber saw Ankita, Mohit Mayur and Jeevan Neduncheziyan winning their singles matches and Christopher Marquis & Shweta Rana the mixed doubles.

Captain Jeevan Neduncheziyan accepted the Rs. 3.5 lakh cheque for the champions. Bombers’ Vijay Sundar Prashant was named ‘best male player’ and received a bicycle, as did Ankita.

Ankita launched the Deuces campaign with a hard-fought 6-2 victory over Rashmi Teltumbde.

Mayur stepped on court next and hammered out a 6-4 win over Vijay Sundar Prashant, displaying sharp serves and slick strokeplay. Deuces captain Jeevan turned the tide beating favourite Saketh Myneni, winning the third singles on the tie-break against the Bombers ace and swelling the final margin to 18-11.

Deuces led 24-14 after the fourth tie, resulting in the fifth match, men’s doubles called off. Jeevan & Kaza Sharma were supposed to play Saketh & Rupesh Roy.

Earlier, Leander Paes partnered Ankita in an exhibition mixed doubles match against Vijay Sundar Prashant and Oksana Kalashnikova.

The result : final : Dazzling Deuces beat Baseline Bombers 24-14 (Ankita Raina bt Rashmi Teltumbde 6-2, Mohit Mayur bt Vijay Sundar Prashant 6-4, Jeevan Neduncheziyan bt Saketh Myneni 6-5, Christopher Marquis & Shweta Rana bt Kedar Shah & Prarthana Thombare 6-3).
