Top-seeded V.M. Ranjeet and second-seeded Saketh Myneni were among the second-round winners on a day devoid of any upsets at the Indian Oil Servo ITF men’s futures tennis championships here on Wednesday. All eight seeds in the singles draw booked their places in the quarterfinals.

Saketh, playing against wild card Sudanwa Sitaram, breezed through the first set displaying a fine range of forehand winners and volleys. After winning the first set 6-3, he went a break up early in the second.

However, unforced errors started creeping in and Sudanwa was presented with a chance to break back in the sixth game.

Saketh’s serve came to his rescue as he served two aces to hold on to the advantage. He regained his rhythm and took the second set 6-2 and, with that, the match.

Elsewhere, fifth-seeded Vijay Sundar Prasanth, coming on the back of a three hour duel on Tuesday and V.M. Ranjeet, wasted little time in packing off Weerapat Doakmaiklee and Elbert Sie respectively in straight sets.

Later in the day, Saketh and Vijay Sundar teamed up with their respective doubles partners to emerge victorious in the doubles draw as well.

The results (Indians unless specified): Singles: Second round: V.M.
