Former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka saved three match points on Wednesday to overcome Japan’s Risa Ozaki 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(7) at the Mallorca Open on her comeback from a year out following the birth of her son.
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga became the latest star to crash out of Queen’s Club as the World No. 10 was beaten 6-4, 6-4 by Luxembourg’s Gilles Muller on Wednesday.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, defending champion Andy Murray suffered a shock 7-6(4), 6-2 defeat at the hands of World No. 90 Jordan Thompson, while second seed Stan Wawrinka lost to Spain’s Feliciano Lopez 7-6(4), 7-5.
Federer’s first win
Eighteen-time Major champion Roger Federer picked up his first win of the grasscourt season by thrashing Japan’s Yuichi Sugita 6-3, 6-1 in the first round of the Gerry Weber Open at Halle.
