Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia holds the trophy after winning over Katie Swan of Britain in the junior girls' singles final at the Australian Open tennis championship in Melbourne on Saturday.

Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia took out the Australian Open junior girls’ title on Saturday, winning five consecutive games after Katie Swan took a medical timeout and beating the British player 6-1, 6-4.

Swan left the court leading 3-0 in the second set and later received treatment for a right thigh injury. The 15-year-old Swan saved two match points in the ninth game before Mihalikova, a 16-year-old member of Slovakia’s junior Fed Cup team, served out the match.

Swan, who is based in Wichita, Kansas due to her family’s work commitments, was badly hampered by muscle cramps in the third set of her 2 hour, 36-minute semifinal match on Friday.

Top-seeded Roman Safiullin of Russia played Hong Seong-chan of South Korea in the junior boys final later Saturday.
