Asia Oceania Junior Davis Cup: Australia thrashes India

Indian boys managed to win a mere nine games as third-seeded Australia thrashed them 3-0 in the last league match of Group D in the Asia Oceania Junior Davis Cup under-16 tennis tournament in Kuching, Malaysia, on Wednesday.

Fifth-seeded India finished second in the group and thus drew second-seeded Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals. The top four teams from the zone will qualify for the World Group competition.

Quarterfinal line-up: 1-Korea vs. 7-Uzbekistan, 3-Australia vs. 6-Hong Kong, 4-Japan vs. 8-Philippines.

The results (league): Australia bt India 3-0 (Max Purcell bt Paramveer Singh Bajwa 6-0, 6-0; Oliver Anderson bt Alex Solanki 6-4, 6-2; Anderson and Alex Deminaur bt Bajwa and B.R. Nikshep 6-1, 6-2).
