Novak Djokovic came back after an overnight weather interruption, turning the tables on Spain’s David Ferrer to advance 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 into his third straight final at the US Open on Sunday.
The Serb second seed, who won the title last year over Rafael Nadal, will be contesting the fifth consecutive men’s final at Flushing Meadows, which has been delayed a day by weather when he faces Andy Murray on Monday.
The Djokovic-Ferrer match began but was yanked off court on by officials in the face of a severe weather warning, which forced the evacuation of 23,000 spectators from the Ashe stadium as Ferrer led 5-2.
On a sunny Sunday, Djokovic came back, losing the opening set but dominating after that against the Spanish fourth seed playing his second Grand Slam semifinal after his first in 2007.
Djokovic and Murray last met in the London Olympic semis, won by the Scot on his way to the gold medal.
