Anaam helps Odisha win

Anaam Almas won both her singles and doubles matches to help Odisha beat Chhattisgarh in a pool-D league match of the National inter-State women’s tennis championship in Bhilai on Tuesday.

In the same pool, Shweta Rana and Anupreet Bedi won the decisive doubles for Delhi in its 2-1 victory over West Bengal for which Amrita Mukherjee fought hard, winning the singles and losing doubles in the super tie-break.

The results (league):

Pool-A: Gujarat bt Mizoram 3-0 (Dhara Bharat Thakor 6-1, 6-0; Saumya Vig bt Lalengmawii 6-1, 6-1; Saumya & Kirandeep Kaur Kotade bt Lalengmawii & Sandhya Giri 6-1, 6-0).

Pool-B: Madhya Pradesh bt Haryana 3-0 (Sara Yadav bt Shrishty Dhanda 6-2, 6-1; Anjali Thakur bt Harshita Chugh 6-0, 7-5; Anjali & Prakriti Banwani bt Harishita & Shrishty 6-2, 6-0).

Pool-C: Maharashtra bt Telangana 3-0 (Aareyalee Chavan bt Sweta Nalekala 6-1, 6-2; Pareen Shivekar bt Sindhu Janagam 6-0, 6-1; Pareen & Dakshata Patel bt Sindhu & Sweta 6-1, 6-3).

Bihar bt Jharkhand 3-0 (Sofia Khan bt Devyani Sinha 6-0, 6-0; Aditi Shreya bt Priyanka Singh 6-2, 6-3; Aditi & Soumya Singh bt Priyanka & Devyani 6-3, 6-0).

Pool-D: Delhi bt West Bengal 2-1 (Vaniya Dangwal bt Yubarani Banerjee 7-5, 6-1; Shweta Rana lost to Amrita Mukherjee 4-6, 4-6; Shweta & Anupreet Bedi bt Amrita & Yubarani 2-6, 6-1, [10-7]).

Odisha bt Chhattisgarh 2-1 (Anaam Almas bt Navni Sisodia 6-0, 6-1; Shilpi Swarupa Das lost to Dharana Mudaliar 6-4, 4-6, 1-6; Shilpi & Anaam bt Dharana & Navni 6-4, 6-2).
