Tendulkar, Ministry to support boxer Sarita

Sachin Tendulkar has made a plea to the nation to back boxer Sarita Devi in her fight against the suspension imposed by the International Boxing Association (AIBA).

The retired cricketer met the Sports Minister Sarbanand Sonowal and attended a meeting to decide the course of action regarding Sarita’s case, here on Wednesday. Tendulkar said, “We just want the entire nation to be behind Sarita Devi and move in the right direction.”

He further said, “The discussion with the Sports Minister was on how to move forward and request AIBA to be lenient to her (Sarita Devi)”.The Minister, meanwhile, presented the Arjuna Award to boxer Manoj Kumar, gold medallist in light-welterweight division in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
