The steering committee, set up by the Sports Ministry to oversee India’s preparation for next year’s Commonwealth and Asian Games, met at the Sports Authority of India complex here on Tuesday and discussed the progress made so far by the National Sports Federations.

The meeting was attended by ministry and SAI officials and deliberated on the issue of India’s preparedness for the Commonwealth Games 2014 at Glasgow and Asian Games 2014 at Incheon, Seoul.

The committee is headed by Sports Secretary P K Deb.

Sports Minister Jitendra Singh had expressed his unhappiness over the country’s preparation for the quadrennial events during a meeting with the SAI officials here early last month.

The minister was particularly unhappy with the fact that only a handful of NSFs had given a detailed training programme for the probable medal winners identified for the games.
