N. Srinivasan, who stepped aside temporarily as the BCCI President, will attend the ICC annual meeting in London next week.
Mr. Srinivasan, who handed over the reins of day-to-day functioning of the Board to Jagmohan Dalmiya pending enquiry into the role of his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan in betting during IPL-6, will represent the BCCI in three sub-committee meetings in the England capital.
However, he is not expected to take part in the ICC executive committee meeting. Here Mr. Dalmiya is expected to represent the Board. According to reliable sources, Srinivasan and Dalmiya will travel to London together.
Srinivasan attending the ICC meeting gains significance owing to India’s stand against DRS. There was a view that if the tough-talking administrator from Chennai does not go to London for the meeting, then the Board might soften its stand on DRS.
Now, with Srinivasan, whose staunch opposition to DRS is well known, almost certainly flying to London, India’s position on the subject is likely to remain unchanged.
