Siddhant Banthia, who topped the Road to Wimbledon campaign by winning the singles and doubles titles in the UK national championship, is the top-seed in the under-14 section of the Fenesta National sub-junior tennis championship to be played at the DLTA Complex here from Monday.
In the under-16 section, it will be top seed B.R. Nikshep attempting to defend the title that he won last year, in a strong field which includes the top-seed in the under-18 that finished recently, Vasisht Vinod Cheruku.
The girls’ under-16 section has Jennifer Luikham as the top seed, but at No. 2 is Zeel Desai who recently won the national under-18 title in Chennai. The field also has Shivani Ingle and Sathvika Sama who had done well to take India to the World Group competition in the under-14 section this season, along with Aarja Chakraborty.
The two will compete in both the under-16 and under-14 sections.
Sabhyata Nihalani who missed out on the visit to Wimbledon, will attempt to compensate, even though she figures only as the sixth seed in the girls under-14 event.
Overall, it should be an exciting week of action from the best players in the sub-junior and mini-junior sections.
