Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik, who married Indian tennis star Sania Mirza last month, has signed up with English county Lancashire for the forthcoming 2010 T-20 season.
Malik, who is currently undergoing a one-year 'ban' by the Pakistan Cricket Board after the disastrous tour of Pakistan team to Australia early this year, will join the county from June 1.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to competitive cricket after the two-month break”, the 27-year-old Malik informed 'The Hindu' on Tuesday afternoon.
Apparently, this has come as a huge relief to the Pakistani cricketer who has every reason to believe that the Lancashire gesture in a way rubbished the claims by some that because of the ban he was not supposed to play in any form of cricket or even train anywhere. “The ban on me was confined only to playing for Pakistan in international cricket,” was his clarification to a related query.
