Indian boxer Manoj Kumar defeated Evaldas Petrauskas of Lituiania by a split decision in the Round of 32 of the men’s Light Welterweight (64kg) category at the Riocentrio Pavilion here.

Up against the bronze medalist of the 2012 London Olympics, Manoj dominated all three rounds to carve out a 29-28, 29—28, 28-29 verdict and advance to the pre-quarterfinals.

The Indian will next meet Fazluddin Gaiznazarov of Uzbekistan in the Round of 16.
