Maisha ridden by D.K.Ashish won the Maharaja Of Morvi Trophy, the feature event of the races held here on Sunday. The winner is owned by Mr. & Mrs. Mehernosh H.Deboo & Mr. Sultan Singh. P.Shroff trains the winner.
The Mahalaxmi Racecourse witnessed unruly scenes when the punters in the public enclosure went on rampage soon after the defeat of favourite Congressional (A.Sandesh up) in the seventh race. The punters not satisfied with the riding of A.Sandesh did not allow the horses to go out from the paddock for the last race.
It was announced that the Stewards will hold an enquiry into the running of this race later as the race was already declared all clear and the payments were made.
When the RWITC Officials tried to take the horses from the outside of the race course the agitated punters went to the main race track and staged a demonstration. As the crowd could not be controlled by the security of the Club and last race was delayed by more than half an hour, the RWITC Stewards resolved to cancel the eighth race.
