Jockey Laxman dead

Jockey Laxman (56) who was riding Tripple Eight in the Elite Zone Plate at the Hyderabad Race Club on Friday passed away after falling from his mount in the course of the race. His horse was involved in a collision with other horses which led to the mishap. He was rushed to hospital but died soon after.

Laxman, who had obtained his licence from RWITC, had begun his career by riding in Mumbai and Pune before settling in Hyderabad. During his long career he had also ridden in Bangalore. Despite his advanced age he was known for his fitness and ability to handle even difficult horses.
