Dhunjibhoy elected RWITC chairman

Khushroo Dhunjibhoy was elected the chairman of Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) by the members of the managing committee at the 102nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Monday (Sept. 11).

Ghulam Vahnavaty was nominated as the chairman of Stewards of the club.

Shyam Ruia topped the list this year by garnering 768 votes while the leader for so many years Vivek Jain has just managed to earn the fifth position in the chart by getting 733 votes.

Jain later submitted his resignation from the Managing Committee of the Club. The only woman member who won the mandate this year, Zinia Lawyer, with 665 votes will be the new face in the managing committee.

Elected members: Shyam Ruia (768), K.N. Dhunjibhoy (766), Jaydev Mody (751), Gulam Vahnavaty (746), Vivek Jain (733), Ram Shroff (725), Geoffrey Nagpal (723), Zinia Lawyer (665) and Milan Luthira (655).

Champkalal Zaveri (636) and Ashwin Mehta (496) failed to get a place in the nine-member managing committee.

However, Ashwin Mehta, who has already been declared elected unopposed, will be heading the RWITC’s Board Of Appeal.
