Poojashree Venkatesh wins ITF Women’s singles

Capping a dream run,Top seed and local favourite Poojashree Venkatesha won the singles title in the $ 10,000 QuestNet ITF Women’s Open with a convincing victory over Slovakia’s Dalila Jakupovic here on Saturday.

It was a grand double for Karnataka’s Poojashree, as she had annexed the doubles crown yesterday in the company of Isha Lakhani.

Poojashree won 6-3, 6-3 in 76 minutes on her way to third ITF singles title of her career at the Kingfisher Signature Stadium of Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association.

She pocketed a winner’s cheque of $ 1,568.
