Matthew Bolton demolished Hong Kong’s Chi Wai Au to storm into the contender’s bracket.

Zhao Xintong and Pankaj Advani led the march of the favourites, with both cueists blanking their opponents 5-0 in the last-16 of the IBSF world snooker championship here on Thursday.

The 17-year-old Xintong packed off Lucky Vatnani, recording a 71-16, 81-08, 73-26, 68-2, 76-30 win in little over an hour. Vatnani, who came into this match with two century breaks in three of his previous matches, had no answer this time.

Xintong, the 2013 IBSF world snooker championship runner-up, will face Adrian Ridley in the quarterfinals.

Ridley brushed aside India’s Shivam Arora 84-31, 90-17, 68-35, 44-86, 75-52, 63-41.

Advani’s progress, though never under serious threat, was not as smooth.

The Indian battled hard in the second frame to erase a 60-point deficit, which came to life on the final red.

Advani potted the red and the pink, and followed up with a much-needed clearance to win the frame on the black.

Breaks of 51 and 52 in the subsequent frames was enough to take him home.

Fourteen-year-old Yao Bingtao hammered a 109-clearance in his 83-28, 64-10, 39-70, 109-14, 81-12, 64-9 victory over India’s Varun Madan.

The signs are ominous, with the Chinese cueist continuing his rampant form after registering a 134 in his last-32 encounter earlier in the day.

Bingtao will take on Advani on Friday, a clash which is sure to set off sparks.

2014 Asian 6-red champion Thor Chuanleong fell to Muhammad Sajjad, who took bronze in the 2013 edition of this tournament. Sajjad overcame a 0-2 deficit to put it across Chuanleong 27-74, 62-69, 76-22, 63-23, 61-24, 133-0, 86-16.

The Pakistani cueist added to the burgeoning list of century breaks on the day, recording 116 in the sixth frame.
