Regulars Atanu Das and Laishram Bombayla Devi have failed to find a place in the Indian squad for the World archery championship commencing at Belek Antalya, Turkey, on September 29.
Replacing them are little-known Kapil Kumar (men) and veteran Chekrovolu Swuro (women). Kapil last represented India at the Ogden World Cup in 2010. Chekrovolu’s last India appearance was at the London Olympics. This will be the veteran Nagaland archer’s second successive World meet having earned the country a historic team silver medal at Turin two years back in the company of Deepika Kumari and Bombayla.
