Vijay-Aishwarya duo bags gold

Karnataka’s Vijay Punjabi and Aishwarya Rao combined well to take the mixed doubles gold on the third day of the Canara Bank National tenpin bowling team championship at the Blu-O Centre here on Thursday.

Aishwarya Rao and Vijay Punjabi accounted for 2308 pinfalls (Aishwarya — 204, 170, 175, 195, 189, 234; Vijay — 163, 203, 188, 209, 186, 182) and clinched the gold.

In the women’s all events, Aishwarya Rao (Karnataka) continues to lead the table with 2264 pinfalls, followed by Sabeena Saleem (Tamil Nadu) with 2217 and Prathima Hegde (Karnataka) with 2179 pinfalls.

In the men’s all events, Dhruv Sarda (Delhi) stayed in the lead with 2586 pinfalls. Akaash Ashok Kumar (Karnataka) is second with 2443 pinfalls, followed by Shabbir Dhankot (Tamil Nadu) with 2397 pinfalls.

The result:Mixed Doubles: Vijay Punjabi & Aishwarya Rao (Kar) 2308 pinfalls; 2. Dhruv Sarda & Sugandha Sarda (Del) 2260; 3. Girish Gabba & Prathima Hegde (Kar) 2244.
