The Annual General Meeting of the faction-ridden Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) will be held at Dehradun on April 15.
The decision was taken in the VFI’s emergent executive committee meeting at Nagpur on Thursday.
The VFI president Avadesh Kumar claimed the recent directives of the Patiala House Court and the Chennai High Court cleared the roadblocks created by the rival faction, led by the VFI secretary Ramavtar Jakhar.
He pointed out that the Patiala House Court ordered the emergent executive committee meeting to be presided over by the president while the Chennai High Court declined to stay the EEC meeting as pleaded by the rival faction. He also described as “illegal”, the meeting called by Ramavtar Jakhar on March 11, in Chennai.
It may be recalled that on February 26, Avadesh Kumar used his “constitutional powers” to suspend 10 members, including CEO K. Murugan, executive vice-president Rajkumar and treasurer Rathin Roy Choudhary besides seven other state unit members, for “attending an invalid core committee meeting” here on February 22.
