Sebastian Vettel’s celebration after winning the Indian Grand Prix may have endeared him to the crowd at the Buddh International Circuit on Sunday, but the race stewards were amused in the least.
The four-time champion’s manner of celebration, when he parked his RB9 in front of the grandstand and bowed before it, drew all-round applause, but the stewards decided to pull up the Red Bull driver.
After examining video and audio evidence, the stewards contended that Vettel had breached the sporting regulations as he failed to proceed directly to parc ferme without unnecessary delay after the race.
The driver was subsequently reprimanded and fined €25,000.
