Union Sports Minister Jitendra Singh blames it on IOA

May 16, 2013 04:05 am | Updated June 08, 2016 05:21 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Union Sports Minister Jitendra Singh impressed upon the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that it was the failure of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to incorporate a set of amendments in its Constitution after they were approved by the IOC in 2010 that had led to the suspension of India from the Olympic Movement.

Not imposed by govt.

The Minister categorically stated that the Sports Code was not imposed by the Government, but by the High Court of Delhi, “which is completely independent of Government.”

“The Government of India respects the autonomy of the IOA and the NSFs,’’ he reiterated. — Special Correspondent
