Aravindh Chithambaram defeated D. Bala Chandra Prasad to finish with 9.5 points from eleven rounds and win the 45th National under-19 chess championship on Friday.
In the girls' event, WFM R. Vaishali drew with WFM V. Varshini in the eleventh and final round. R. Vaishali was tied at 8.5 points with WFM G.K. Monnisha and Harshita Guddanti but won on a better tie-break score.
