Under-14 archery championship: Andhra Pradesh is champion

Andhra Pradesh archers emerged as overall champions of the sixth mini national (under-14) archery championship that concluded at the IGMC stadium here on Sunday, hauling 10 gold, one silver and five bronze medals.

Finishing second with eight gold, 12 silver and nine bronze medals was Maharashtra, followed by Jharkhand.

In the mixed event, host AP won both the recurve and compound events. AP’s B. Dhiraj and Rithwika defeated Manipur’s Rishikesh and Roshini 146-141 in the recurve while K. Mahesh and K. Jyoshna scored a 147-117 victory over Jharkhand’s Amrit Mahato and Sushma Kumari.

In the Indian round, Haryana’s Vikram and Jyoti defeated Maharashtra’s Shubham Deshkukh and Jagruti Kunde 140-138.

Mixed: Recurve: 1. Andhra Pradesh (B. Dhiraj & Rithwika Pragnya) 146, 2. Manipur (Y. Roshini Devi & Rishikesh Singh) 141, 3. Maharashtra (Unnati & Yashdeep Bhoge) 148.

Compound: 1. Andhra Pradesh (K. Mahesh & K. Jyoshna) 147, 2. Jharkhand (Amrit Mahato & Sushma Kumari) 117, 3. Maharashtra (Mrudul Data & Helisha Soni) 133.

Indian round: 1. Haryana (Vikram & Jyoti) 140, 2. Maharashtra (Shubham Deshmukh) 138, 3. Jharkhand (Hemant Kumar & Komalika Bari) 141.

Team event:

Indian round: Boys: 1. Haryana (Vikram, Akash, Robin, Parveen) 225, 2. Assam (Harishikesh Rabha, Bacchenand Sharma, Kampa Narzary, Sikanar Ray) 224, 3. Andhra Pradesh (S. Ramesh, G. Mahesh Babu, S. Laxmana Rao, B. Mahesh) 215.
