Some of the top golfers in the country will be seen in action in the Rs. 30 lakh prize money Aircel PGTI Players' championship beginning at the RCGC here on Wednesday.
The stellar line-up includes Gaganjeet Bhullar, S.S.P. Chowrasia, Anirban Lahiri, Mukesh Kumar, Rahil Gangjee, Chiragh Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Shamim Khan, Mandeo Singh Pathania, Raju Ali Mollah, Shankar Das, Manav Jaini, Sujjan Singh and Gaurav Ghei.
The four-day championship will be followed by the pro-am championship on Sunday.
The Tollygunge club is all set to host the first ever women's professional golf championship from Wednesday. Sixteen players are vying for top honours in the coveted ninth leg of the Hero Honda golf tour.
This leg has attracted the largest field and is being played for a prize purse of Rs. 2.5 lakh, with the winner taking home Rs. 68,000.
Tour leader Sharmila Nicollet, 19, will be in contention for the title along with veteran Simi Mehra, Nalini Singh Siwach and Sanniya Sharma.
This leg has been slotted after a short winter break as a warm-up for the Thailand women's Open to be held at Bangkok from February 8.
The top four players in the order of merit have received exemption to play in the Ladies' European Tour Access Series which is running from March to September this year.
