A total prize money of Rs. 10,11,000 was given to spikers in different categories, who have won medals at the National championships, by the Tamil Nadu State Volleyball Association (TNSVA) at a function here on Thursday.
Speaking at the function W.I. Davaram, President, Tamil Nadu Athletics Association, said the State has done extremely well in all the National championships held between December 2013 and January 2014. “By reaping a rich haul, the players have made us proud,” he said.
Mr. Davaram said the reason why Tamil Nadu has been doing well is because of the administration and a strong structure at the grassroots level: schools, colleges and Universities.
K. Murugan, Life-President, TNSVA, said the players deserved all the accolades and the awards. S. Balasubramanian Adityan, President, TNSVA, who was scheduled to give the awards, could not make it to the event.
