Three promising sailors from the Tamil Nadu Sailing Association - Praveen Prabhakar, Rufus Patrick and Niveditha Ravivarman - will be taking part in the Irish National and Open Optimist Championship to be held at the Royal St George Yacht Club at Dun Laoghaire near Dublin from August 19 to 22.
Aside from the fact that yacht racing originated in Ireland another significant aspect is that the event is taking place at the same venue where the 2011 Youth World championship is scheduled.
Praveen and Rufus had finished first and second among the boys and Niveditha Ravivarman was first among the girls in the YAI (Yachting Association of India) selection trials held in Mumbai in May.
