Thulasi stuns Cann

Ace Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap stormed into the singles second round of the Austrian International Challenge badminton tournament with a 21-13, 21-12 victory over Jan Frohlich of the Czech Republic in Vienna on Thursday.

In the women's section, P.C. Thulasi scored an upset 21-17, 21-13 victory over third-seeded Elizabeth Cann of England.

In the second round, Thulasi faces Aiying Xing of Singapore who beat Claudia Mayer of the host country 21-8, 21-17.

Women's singles: Aditi Mutatkar bt Iris Wang (US) 21-17, 21-15; Neha Pandit bt Telma Santos of Portugal 16-21, 21-16, 21-9.

Mixed doubles: Hemanagendra Babu & P. Jyotsna bt Maurice Niesner & Severine Corvilain (Bel) 21-11, 19-21, 21-13.
