Swati stuns Mary Ann

Swati Ghate, seeded sixth, turned the tables on second seed Mary Ann Gomes in the seventh round of the National women’s premier chess championship at Jalgaon on Tuesday. The win also put Swati in sole lead.

She has 5.5 points, half-a-point ahead of third seed Nisha Mohota, fifth seed S. Meenakshi, seventh seed Soumya Swaminathan and Bhakti Kulkarni, seeded ninth.
