Snooker player Stephen Lee has been banned for 12 years after being found guilty of match-fixing.

The 38-year-old Englishman was found guilty of seven fixing charges by an independent tribunal last week, and the sanction was handed down on Wednesday.

Once ranked No. 5 in the world, Lee allegedly fixed matches at the 2008 Malta Cup, the 2008 U.K. Championship, the 2009 China Open and the 2009 world championship.

It’s the biggest case of match-fixing in snooker since Australia’s Quinten Hann was suspended for eight years in 2006.
