Sports Ministry to fund Mary Kom Foundation

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has sanctioned a grant of about Rs. three crore towards the construction of a Gymnasium Hall and the procurement of related equipment, for the Mary Kom Regional Boxing Foundation, being set up in Imphal.

The Manipur government has allotted the land for the project.

The grant will be released in instalments once the conditions, as required under the NSDF scheme, are met.

For a similar project, the Usha School of Athletics in Kozhikode, Kerala, the NSDF had given Rs. 4.92 crore for laying 8-lane synthetic track of international standard with supporting facilities.
