SP Young Guns, Race for Gold and Rakish Kings score thrilling wins

SP Young Guns, Race for Gold and RK’s Rakish Kings were involved in thrilling 3-2 wins against SPG Billiards Punters, S K’s Kannon Masters and MP’s Shooters respectively at the Videocon Billiards Premier League, organised by Billiards & Snooker Association of Maharashtra, at the Bombay Gymkhana.

Arun Agrawal, missing a century break by six points, won both singles (including the decider against World Team Championship gold medallist Ashok Shandilya) to guide SP Young Guns to victory. Cyrus Mistry had forced the decider for SPG Billiards Punters by winning the fourth match.

Devendra Joshi, World Team gold medallist, won both singles for Race for Gold, including the decider over junior national champion Dhwaj Haria. to beat SK’s Kannon Kings. The former notched a break of 105 against Hitesh Kotwani and 88 against Haria.

Ankit Thakkar stunned World Team silver medallist Dhruv Sitwala in the decider to pilot RK’s Rakish Kings to victory over MB’s Shooters. V Subramanian had won the fourth tie to force the decider. B’s Shooters and WJ Genii lead the 10-team table with 14 points, followed by SP Young Guns (13), Tigers (12). Race for Gold and Rakish Kings have nine points each.

Tigers bt RRockets 5-0; SP Young Guns bt SPG Billiards Punters 3-2; Race for Gold bt SK’s Kannon Masters 3-2; RK’s Rakish Kings bt MB’s Shooters 3-2; WJ Genii bt Scorpions 4-1.
