October 31, 2010 01:17 am | Updated 01:17 am IST - BOLPUR (WEST BENGAL):

Unseeded Sourav Sourav Chakraborty of Petroleum outlasted second-seeded Sanil Shetty of Air India in the quarterfinals of DCPL National-ranking (East Zone) table tennis at the SAI Kaviguru Complex here on Saturday.

Making his first semifinal of the season, Sourav who was unceremoniously dumped from Commonwealth Games team, made a befitting comeback with two good performances. He beat the sixth- seeded G. Sathiyan in the pre-quarterfinals before overcoming Shetty in a gruelling match.

In the women's section, National champion Poulomi Ghatak of Petroleum moved into the semifinals. Poulomi, who scripted a facile win over former National champion Kasturi Chakraborty, will meet Mamta Prabhu of Maharashtra the semifinals.
