Snooker: Neeraj beats Manish Jain

The second day of the Indian Open wild card entry tournament produced a few absorbing contests here on Tuesday evening.

Neeraj Kumar, who was involved in a close match against Pankaj Advani on Monday, got the better of Manish Jain 4-3. Tamil Nadu’s J. Varun Kumar also notched his first win by a similar margin against Maharashtra’s Hasan Badami.

The six-group league will be completed on Wednesday after which reseeding will be done among 12 players.

The results: Group A: Neeraj Kumar bt Manish Jain 4-3 (5-77, 61-66, 70-32, 63-26, 69-36, 33-70, 75-37); Pankaj Advani bt Rajat Khaneja 4-0 (131 (70)-0, 80-16, 86 (69)-30, 110 (110) -18).

Group B: J. Varun Kumar bt Hasan Badami 4-3 (47-70, 54-9, 76-0, 26-71, 52-60, 69-65, 63-37). 

Group C: Brijesh Damani bt R. Girish 4-2 (57-44, 2-73, 80-43, 30-90, 55-29, 44-19), Rafat Habib bt Varun Madan 4-0 (82(55)-30, 37-34, 52-31, 75-31).

Group D: Anup Uppal bt Pushpendra Singh 4-1 (54-52, 61-49, 32-65, 56-23, 59-23), Dharminder Lilly bt Siddharth Parikh 4-2 (48-53, 49-72, 84-3, 52-45, 60-39, 59-54).

Group E: Shivam Arora bt Himanshu Jain 4-2 (49-36, 60-55, 68-30, 42-68, 29-67, 80-22).

Group F: Laxman Rawat bt Vijay Nichani 4-1 (70-37, 76-46, 108 (71)-7, 35-65, 59-11); Sumit Talwar by Sundeep Gulati 4-3 (65-44, 29-59, 9-75, 71-43, 55-32, 61-66, 54-15).
