Smit Singh came up with a 24 in the third round to be placed 41 after three rounds with a total of 69 in men’s skeet in the shotgun world championship in Lima, Peru.
Mairaj Ahmad Khan, with a 68, was 55th in the 71-shooter field.
Among the juniors, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka (68) was in the 14 spot while Karam Sukbir Singh (63) and Angad Vir Singh Bajwa (61) were 29th and 30th respectively in a field of 33.
The men’s skeet event, spread over three days, will have two more rounds, followed by the final.
In the women’s final, the 32-year-old Christine Wenzel of Germany pipped Simona Scocchetti of Italy 15-12 in the gold medal contest to win her fourth successive world championship crown. Both qualified in the shoot-off for the semifinals with a score of 72 in the preliminary phase.
India did not field any shooter, including juniors, in women’s skeet.
