Shamin in the van

October 06, 2012 03:29 am | Updated October 18, 2016 01:06 pm IST - Mumbai:

With a four-under-66 in the third round, Delhi’s Shamim Khan displaced Chandigarh’s Harendra Gupta from the top of the leaderboard in the CG Open here on Friday. Shamim, at 11-under 199, is a stroke ahead of city-mate Rashid Khan.

The current Rolex rankings leader Shamim said: “I had a brilliant day with the putter. I got my rhythm going after the 10-foot birdie putt on the eighth. Unlike round two, I putted really well on the back-nine today.

“The 20-foot eagle putt on the closing 18th helped me finish the day as the leader and did a lot for my confidence going into the final round. That putt was a tricky one as the ball had to travel first uphill and then downhill.”

Delhi’s Vinod Kumar (201) is tied third with Gupta, while Kolkata’s S.S.P. Chowrasia is fifth with a 203.
